Industry Research (Industrial Research)

We specialise in the support of industry science and research.  In fact, the only science management that we do not provide services for is scientific research conducted by universities.  Our expertise is in the field of industry science (where research is done to provide practical solutions within a limited budget and timeframe).

Industry research takes place in two ways

  1. Specialised Research Facilities focussing on research focussing on a specific industry.  We provide services to both public and private industrial research facilities and institutions

  2. In-house Research Capabilities in companies.  If you have an in-house research capability, we can help you optimise the return on your investment.  We offer a variety of services to companies with in-house research capabilities (and those who would like to establish such a capability).

Both of these are important, but each requires a specific approach to research, and has its own set of risks and opportunities.  We are able to support the development and management of both of these in all branches of science.

Commercialisation

It is seldom possible to commercialise the results of research directly.  There are too many other drivers that impact on what will be accepted in the "market".  It is even more difficult if the research takes place in an environment where innovation management is not already part of the over-all research strategy.

Innovation management

Research and science generate ideas and knowledge, or produce new technological solutions.  Many very good research results never have the impact they can potentially have in society and business because their potential is not further developed into a solution that provides specific utility and satisfy a need in the "market".

Understanding Client Requirements

The interface between clients and researchers is not easy.  They speak often use different terminology to describe same things.  For this reason the requirements of any client that want to make practical use of research results need to be embedded into reaserch projects and managed very carefully.
